me and this "kid" are doing a presentation on mercury and how we are ever going to get there

we cant really get there
Mariner 10 and MESSANGER both used gravity assists and other special tricks to get to Mercury, which take way to long for humans to go. and then when you get there, its only 800F in the sun. you can only bake there.

Well, you can choose whether to fry or broil on one side.
You can only freeze on the other.
At the terminator you can do both at once.

yeah, what about travelling around it's equator at a rate of 1 lap every 56 days to stay in constant twilight and avoid being either in the freezing night, or the boiling daytime?

Check out information on the Messenger probe - it recently flew by Mercury and sent back a lot of great images.

There is a long scarp on Mercury (a kind of cliff) that runs about 200 km - that would make some great rock climbing.
The Caloris Basin has some interesting features - some long, flat-floored troughs radiating from a central feature might make some great off-road driving.

Getting there can be a problem, but not really much harder than getting to Mars. The problem to humans would be the heat - Mercury's daytime temperature is 700K (about 425 degrees Celsius) - hot enough to melt lead.

Burn, freeze, die of lack of oxygen :D real fun isn't it

Some how passing that with hi tech suits the lack of gravity would be awesomely fun, jumping through craters. On the seenic side somethign cool to see would be seeing a double sun rise- when the sun rises a bit but an orbital effect makes it sink down and rise again, also the sun's sight up that close would be cool.

To apeal to kids an 88 day orbit makes birthdays and holidays(such as christmas and halloween) come faster
