Is there any financial assistance offered for a veterinary visit?

I do not have enough money to take my dog to the vet right now, and he has mild diarrhea. I wonder if there was any financial assistance for this situation. He is very loved by my husband, myself, and our 7 year old child. He had diarrhea on Monday, which was 3 days ago, and didn't have any bowel movement until today, Thursday, and he had kind of loose stools. I was feeding him white rice, and chicken broth, until yesterday. I gave him a little dry food. This morning he started out w/regular stools, then turned a little bit softer. HELP!!!!

Have you tried asking your local vet about payment plans?

Local SPCA's will sometimes offer discounted services as well, so I'd suggest you give them a call and find out for sure.

Sounds like you may be sorting this out without a vet visit. Stick with the rice and boiled chicken or white fish for a while - and add some natural yogurt to the feed. This often does the trick with uncomplicated bouts of looseness.

If you are in the UK and on Benefits the PDSA will probably help you, if this gets serious again. Sometimes the warmer and humid (especially) weather can make dogs a bit loose - with any luck this might be what's happening. Feed him later in the day/earlier in the morning, before it gets hot, and back off the amount a bit during hot weather (it's been quite warm in the SW UK this week).
