...extinction by artificial intelligence? 1. Leading computer scientists are predicting that in 8-12 years computers will be more intelligent than human beings. It was in the New York Times.
2. Darwin's Theory of Evolutions says that more able species that compete for the same resources always drive into extinction the species that are less able.
3. Sooner or later the artificial intelligence based life forms will want all the resources on this planet, and that will mean a war between us and them, much as in "The Matrix," "WarGames," "The Terminator," "Battlestar Galactica," and the Borg plot line in "Star Trek"--except those stories were fantasies--in real life we will not have a chance against the intelligent machines.
4. Therefore, the only hope is to break up the computer networking and limit the progress of computer technology.
5. The problem is that I don't see anyone taking these steps. It seems like we, the biological humans, are a doomed race.
6. But I don't like to be pessimistic. I love Will Ferrell movies, and I want to believe there will always be creatures who make movies like that and will laugh at movies like that.
7. So, does anyone know of any efforts or projects to re-direct humanity away from creating the next evolution in life that will turn around and make humanity go extinct?
(P.S. This is not a joke. I am extremely worried about this.)
