I didn't get a speeding ticket in this situation, but I wonder if I would have had a good argument if I had gotten one.
I was driving on the highway in the extreme left-hand lane (the "fast" lane or passing lane). This black car came up behind me really fast and aggressively and was following me really close. He kind of forced me to speed up until we were both going around 130 km/hr (posted speed limit is 100 km/hr). At that point I moved over into the next lane to let the car pass and as it passed by I saw that it was in fact a police car (I hadn't realized this when he was right behind me. He didn't have flashing lights or anything). If I had known it was a police car I would have moved over right away when he first came up behind me.
I guess he was in a hurry to get somewhere. But if he had stopped me and issued me a speeding ticket for going 130 km in a 100 km zone, would I have had a valid defense?
