...for drinking drivers? Do "RIDE programs" as they are called in some places, or roadside spot checks to see if people have been drinking and driving pass muster with the U.S. pass Constitutional muster?

No one would debate that Police should stop people who actually look like they might be driving under the influence or who seem to be driving improperly.

But should Police be able to randomly choose roads and check everyone?

I am simply wondering if there is any debate over this sort of practice?

One thing that I think should ALWAYS be safeguarded in a free society is the freedom from unnecessary intrusion from government and police. And I don't think anyone should be quick to give into the idea that "if you're not doing anything wrong you should have nothing to hide".

What are your thoughts on this?

Should the Police be allowed to do this?
