is there a way you can time a honda civic without taking off head?

well im trying to figure out how to time this piece of crap honda. i just changed the headgasket and spark plugs and after putting everything back together it wont start. it tries to and it turns over but it wont fire up. im thinking it wont start cuz the timing is off. can anyone tell me how to time it. everyone tells me i need to run it and use a timing light but it wont start. i need to get the crank and cam aligned. is there a way i can do this without removing the head again. gahh i should have bought a chevy!!
 
When you removed the head did you align the timing marks correctly when it went back together. I don't know if you have a timing belt or chain but either way the marks must be aligned. Auto Zone can give you some advice on the procedure.
