Is there a way to share Pokemon on gane boy advance games that are being used...

...in nintendo DS's? We have GBA Fire Red and Green leaf and two DS's. Both of the DS's are hooked up to wi fi but the game wants a GBA cable. I am unable to find a cable to link the two DS's and I am not getting two GBA's and a cable just for the sake of swapping pokemon in these games for my son.
