I have an Ochem test coming up and on the practice test the question is to find the formal charge of (CH3)2SO. I know how to find formal charges with the Lewis structure but during the test I will not have time to draw structures and then calculate all of the charges. So I'm wondering how do you find the formal charges without having the Lewis structure?
Is there a way to calculate formal charge without drawing the Lewis structure?
