Is there a way to browse for businesses that are hiring around my area online?

What I mean is that is there a database online that records the businesses that are hiring in any given location? Is that even possible?

I am a teenager who doesn't own a car yet so something like this would be very helpful.

Snagajob.com - you can put in your zip code and find hourly jobs in your area.

or just walk to businesses and stop in find out. After searching for weeks, I finally found a job when I was in school just by simply stopping in a place that took my name and phone number.
You can also try the newspaper. or have let your parents and friend's parents know you are looking for a job - networking is the best way to find a job.
