monitoring what it does? I have downloaded a program that I really need but am not sure whether it is a virus or not. I've checked it with a couple of programs but some say that it's erased their hard drives .etc.

I'd like to have preferably a program that isolates the possible virus and allows me to monitor what it would do to my system.

Any help would be greatly appreciated (and would earn you 10 points)

Mainly in reply to the first answer - I have already done that but I am not sure that any ill effects will show up straight away, but thanks for you help.
 
Download and install VMware or another virtual machine program, and use it to create a virtual computer on which you can install your OS. Then transfer the file to that virtual OS and run it.
