my timing belt is really loose. is there a way i can adjust the tensioner or something or do i really have to pull everything apart and replace the belt again

The tensioner should be adjustable. I have not been under my hood yet so am not familiar with the unit. It may be spring loaded or not. Anyways your problem is there. Not the belt.
