is there a toronto bylaw that says that you need a fence if you have a dog?

my brother said that we need a fence in order to get a dog is this true? could we get fined? if we get a dog without a fence?

Phone any vet office and ask, they will know about local animal ordinances.

I am not really sure, but I do know that some places do require a fence OR a dog run. Most places do NOT allow dogs loose and/or do NOT allow dogs to be kept on a chain.

even if its allowed to keep a dog on a chain (your SPCA will know) you should NOT do this for many reasons

just good policy to have a fence to help contain your dog
also dog needs training, exercise, socialization, grooming and vet care
