So I got a fixie about a month ago, and all my guy friends are asking me if i know how to ride fixie... and I don't really get what they mean when they say that cause its a bike and i know how to ride a bike. So basically I just want to know is if there actually is like a special way of riding a fixie.

Two big differences . No coasting and (generally) no brakes.

So riding along in the street, no big difference, Up hills its about the same, except you get no low gears to help you. Downhill it can get a little crazy if you dont anticipate how fast you need to spin your legs.

Stopping without brakes is the real trick. Assuming you are using clip-in pedals, you basically slow the bike down by retarding and finally skidding to a stop. Look for some youtube videos if you haven't seen it done. It is not all that easy to learn, so practice on quiet roads.
