Is there a movie based on David Bowie?

I was watching 'the one show' or something like that the other night and noticed a clip (wasn't paying too much attention at the time) of someone which seemed to be playing Bowie and there was a caption at the bottom of the screen followed by a year number. i.e. 'blahblah film-made in 1994' for example.

I am interested in Bowie's life so if someone could tell me a little more? :)

Velvet Goldmine is a film loosely based off of him and its named after one of his songs. Apparently he wanted nothing to do with it, if you look at the protagonist you will pretty much see why. To be fair, the film took a massive amount of creative liberties, like the idea of him sleeping with the Iggy Pop character is pretty ridiculous.

I don't know about many other films, I guess some of the characters he has played himself like Thomas Newton and Jareth are similar to him. If you want factual information about Bowie, there are loaRAB of good books on the subject, like Bowie in Berlin for instance.

Came on here to say this. Not a biopic sort of thing at all, but seems to be based on rumours that were around at the time (maybe? I wasn't born then, so not sure if I've been reliably informed!)
It's a great film regardless of this imo...and I think Ewan McGregor, Johnathan Rhys-Meyers and Christian Bale actually do a good job, even though I don't rate any of them as actors usually.
