I have been training dogs for 8 years. I've done on and off leash obedience, protection, scenarios, stabilization work, bite work, scent work and schutzhund training.
I am currently in Kuwait doing Force Protection work but would like to get into military dog handling and need to take the Military Working Dog Handler Course at Lackland. My question is can a civilian take that course if they pay for it? I've heard that some cililans have been through it but not what status. Also, if not, is there an equivalent course that a civilian can take to qualify for k9 handler positions in the military community?
