...Chinese copy of the engine? Chinese manufacturers are replicating with some degree of fidelity certain Japanese motorcycles in the entry level category for Latin American countries (125 cc - 250 cc). I am living in the Dominican Republic and need to purchase a motorcycle for transportation. I need it to last me at least 4 years. The options are A) Original Yamaha/Honda 125 cc (Honda CGL 125 or Yamaha YBR 125) or B) The chinese copy of such bikes.

I do not know about the reliability of the chinese bikes but parts are readily available. They cost about $ 800 USD. The replacement for the engine of a chinese motorcycle is about $300.

I am unsure as to whether I should save the money and purchase the chinese equivalent and in case the engine breaks, I'll just replace it since it is fairly inexpensive, OR purchase the original Yamaha/Honda bike and also have a higher propensity of having the bike stolen and have to be a bit more cautious with the motorcycle. So the big question is, which motorcycle do you guys think I should get?
