Is there a masochistic and paranoid element to the religious cults?

The mormons are rich enough ( well at least the leaders are ) not to be unduly worried by the relentless march of evidence which declares their particular religious cult with its laughable beliefs as verging on the lunatic.

but what about those poor Jehovah's people?a totally daft and utterly insane religious cult. perhaps in their case the paranoia and masochism comes with the discrediting of their core beliefs and prophesies. What did they expect ? these prophesies and prohibitions originated in the drunken mind of one of their former leaders who became such an insane pest and embarrassment to the rest of them that they packed him off to Beth Sarim out of harms way.

Research Beth Sarim and be prepared to be amused and shocked in equal measure my dears.

It's kind of hard to deny the critical times we are living in. 2 Timothy 3:1-4.Rev.11:18 ruining of the earth. If you deny the scriptures cited then quite possibly you might want too consider your own sanity.
You might find yourself on the outside on the great day of God Almighty.

There might not be many of us who don't suffer masochism or paranoia, to some degree, Harriet! It's not actually groups like the Mormons and JWs who evidence much of that anyway. Compared to other groups, they're almost sedate.

But I know what you mean about Beth Sarim. The trouble is, that episode is history and not one JW today thinks it's a problem. They just dismiss it as an over-enthusiastic quirk. They have no interest in either Russell or Rutherford because they believe that the 'light' gets ever brighter, and none of their leaders ever claimed to be infallible.

With the Mormons, they seriously believe everything in their Book of Mormon and that it's a modern-day gospel, supplementary to the Bible. Trouble is, they opt for the BoM as being more accurate than the (Authorised Version) Bible. This allows them to come out with up-dated 'truth'. Same with the JWs and their 'new light'.

You know the best thing any of us can do for those folks? Pray for them. Ask God to reveal to them just who the real Jesus is. Once they discover the truth about Jesus, then they can be helped. Not until then, though.
