...even if the other person stays? I don't know if the question makes much sense so here's the story... Me and my son's father just signed a one year lease together (both of our names are on it) and he moved out after a month. It was solely his decision to leave no one made him or asked him to. Would he still be legally financially responsible for half of rent? Our original agreement upon moving out would be that the full amount of rent would be paid by him and utility bills would be paid by me. Would I have a case in small claims court? I obviously don't expect the full amount but I alone cannot afford this place as I am a student with a part time job and child. Also, if it varies by state... I live in Wisconsin.
