I talk to a Chinese friend online and I tried telling him about some cites that are blocked for him, and he said, "Dear, remember this. Do not talk about politics over phone or internet. Face to face is ok."

Is there a restriction?
This is driving me crazy, he made me change the topic and won't tell me why. Just said, "You know something, don't you?" And when I asked what he said, "Just stop."

I neeeeed to know, blargh, if he's just proud of his country and not interested, or if there's a rule.
Yes, I was trying to talk to him about Tibet.
Ok, we're talking about it again.

He says that the Americans don't know what happens in China because we aren't there, that the gov't censores things because they're made by bad people and aren't good for Chinese people, and that what I've heard about Tibet was a lie and that they're better now because they aren't a slave society.

So I guess he won't talk by choice....
Hmmm....

he says the Tibetans are bad people because of what happened this past March 14.

I have not heard of anything specific, but it would not surprise me, most News is sensored if there is something about the government it cuts to an add and I can't access a lot of internet sites from here. I have been living here for 6 months and I can talk to people face to face about it but it is a very mute subject. Some people are super cautious.

Maybe he dosen't want to talk about it with you and maybe he is a little parranoid about talking about it. They could probably cause you a bit of trouble if you were like a business man and they found out.

Yes, the Chinese commies will kill you for disagreeing with them. And our socialists want the same for America.

Talking politics is not prohibited. Just don't be critical of official Chinese policies or politicians. So it is just best not to discuss them over the Internet or phone as you never know who might be listening. We here in the United States take it for granted that we have freedom of speech and, can say most anything about our government. This is not so in many countries and, speaking ill of the government or officials can get you in trouble in some countries.
