Is there a law against using knives at work if you are 17?

I recently had an accident at work before I turned 18 which involved a knife. I have been told that my workplace broke the law by letting me use knives in the first place but they are saying it's ok as long as I only use it to cut cucumbers for some reason.

If anyone can clarify for me if it is against the law to use knives while you are underage in a workplace it would be great.

Oh and by the way, they had me using large bread-knives and big two-handed rocking knives.
 
if you do not use it against someone it is ok
either wise you broke the law definitely
 
Thats a load of crap. i JUST turned 18, but ive worked my job my whole year of 17 using knives because i work in a food industry. There was norhting ever said about me not being allowed to use a knife
