Is there a huge difference between the Honda Civic LX and EX models?

I know that the EX has additional features like extra cup holders and a moon roof, but is there any significant difference "under the hood"?

Prior to 2006 the Honda Civic EX had a upgraded engine compared to the DX & LX versions which usually shared the same engine.

89-91 Civic EX had 106 HP engine while DX/LX had 92 HP engine

92-95 Civic EX had 125 HP VTEC engine while DX/LX had 102 HP engine

96-00 Civic EX had 127 HP VTEC engine while DX/LX had 106 HP engine

01-05 Civic EX had 127 HP VTEC engine while DX/LX had 115 HP engine

For the 2006+ Civic's Honda made all Civic models share the same engine except for the Si which had a stronger more powerful DOHC VTEC engine.
