Is there a detent in the upper part of the shift column in an older chevy truck?

'82 silverado C-10
turbo 350 transmission

The detent inside of the transmission wore down and the the truck got stuck in 2nd gear. I replaced it, now I cannot feel a 'click' when i shift gears.

Is there another detend up high where the gear indicater is, or is it badly out of adjustment now?
