...showing up on my cell phone screen? I buy only enough cell phone time (30 minutes a month) so that I am covered in case of emergency, so I don't answer cell phone calls unless I recognize the number. (I have been burned by people calling the wrong number causing me to use my limited cell phone time only to tell them they dialed wrong---and all my friends, family, business associates, and anyone else I care about has my land line number and knows to call me on that line).
Recently my cell phone screen has shown--over and over again, perhaps 60-80 times over the past couple of months--a long distance number that I do not recognize. (The area code is midtown Phoenix; I live in a western Washington state area code). I have no intention of picking this call up as it always rings exactly 5 times and then stops--indicating to me that it may be a solicitation call or scam that--at the very least--is going to cost me cell phone time that I can't afford to be wasting.
Is there any way I can identify this number by typing it into some kind of cross-reference guide? I'm just curious as who it is that is trying so hard to reach me--but I'm not going to give them the satisfaction of answering given my suspicions about who or what is going to be on the other end of the line!
