The book of revelation, where the doomsday cults get their fear inspiring, insanity producing dogma, has always been in the bible but people haven’t always been able to read it. A society with above 95% adult literacy is only a modern convention, like only in the last 150 years or so. So people actually reading the insane drivel in the book of revelation is really only a modern convention too. It’s also only in the last 150 years or so that Christian doomsday cults have sprung up and started luring careless people into their sinister cults; surely this indicates a correlation, don’t you think so?
