I own a 1998 Chevy Malibu. I Just purchased a window motor for the driver side front and I am planning on installing it tomorrow. It just so happens that when my wife drove the car last the window got stuck, as usually happens, but this time it wouldn't come up for her at all.
She got the car home and I played with it for a few minutes. I had no luck at first but out of frustration I pulled the power window master switch out with a swift yank. I thought I broke it but I was LUCKY not to. When I played around with the wires on the back of the window switch the window went up and down with ease.
Thus my question, is this a motor problem or a switch problem? I don't want to take my whole car door apart to find that the motor is fine. I would replace both but the window switch isn't cheap and I spent plenty on the window motor.
Any help would be appreciated, C.L.
