Is the voltage regulator part of the alternator of a mazda protege' 2000?

Went to auto zone and found out my voltage regulator was failing, sometimes my car dies on me and its clear there is an electrical issue. Everything else worked such as the battery and the alternator tests the fuses all look fine as well. I was wondering if this model car has it inside the alternator because getting a new voltage regulator will be 180 bucks but just replacing the alternator all together will only be 130 or so. If it's already part of the alternator I'm better off just getting a new one of those.
