Is the US Health Care Bill basically like the Canadian and British system?

I am British, so I haven't heard much about the US Health Care bill, but just having looked at the bill on the internet, it seems that what is proposed is pretty much identical, or at least very similar to what is in place in the UK, most of Europe and Canada.

Basically, private health insurers will no longer exist, the only insurer that exists is the US government, and anyone with existing private health care will loose it and will be covered under the US government system. Under the bill, heath care is free and delivered without question to anyone, regardless of their ability to pay or financial situation. Hospitals will become more integrated, and a central patient database will be created that every hospital in the country will have access to.

In order to fund this, what people used to pay to their insurers, will now be paid to the US Government.

Is this basically the essensce of this bill? If it is, it sounds remarkably like the NHS or Canadian health service, regardless of how Obama tries to dress it up.
