Is the Toyota FJ Cruiser a good suv?

A friend of mine will give me a good discount for a 2008 Toyota FJ Cruiser and was wondering if thats a good suv?
Im getting a discount because my friend owns the dealership. :P

Does it really need preminium gas or can I just use regular? Im looking for a cheap suv that is new, is under 25,000 and is mid-size. I was going to get a honda pilot but abit pricey.
 
Toyota is NOT crap! Their quality is the top, and according to Consumer Report, is better than Mercedes over the past 10 years or so. Lexus is the best, but they are owned by Toyota anyway.
