My mom has the estate version and it has lasted her 4-5 years so far and is still in good working condition. But new parts are expensive and occasionaly they have to be shipped from Japan.
Its comfy and spatious, but I suggest if you have dogs traveling in cages in the boot you wont fit an average RAC specific cage in the boot....but we had one specially made.
Apparently it is difficult to reverse in....my dad refuses to reverse in it!

:D Hope that helps xxx

In the sense it fulfils the dictionary definition of a car. I would set my sights a little higher if I were you.

Toyota is a very good make of car very reliable and there after care is excellent not sur about the aventisis i have a yaris and its great go for it!

take it from the stig,.....
there ''all right'',nothing special....but if you like it,take no notice of us...get it bought.

It's one of the best, especially the diesel version.I had one that had done over 150,000 and it still ran like new.

Some very strange answers: Yes, the Avensis is a very well built, very reliable car. It won't 'excite' many people, but as decent family transport it's one of the best. Some Japanese parts are expensive, but actually no more expensive than any other Ford or Vauxhall - and being a Toyota, it will need repairs & replacements far less often than most other cars.
I assume you won't be having hand crafted, purpose built cages fitted for dogs, so that shouldn't be an issue.
