Is the Sega Genesis (16-bit) also referred to as the Sega Genesis 1, 2, or 3?

I keep trying to find the two adapters for my Sega and everytime I look Ebay and Amazon say the parts are only available only for the Sega Genesis 2, or the Sega Genesis 1... so what is my 16-bit Sega Genesis? Is it the Sega Genesis 2, or is it the Sega Genesis 1, or...?

Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you!
