Is the Rockband2 game compatible with BandHero instruments.?

Just bought the BandHero bundle and am wondering if the BH instruments could be used with the Rockband2 game. I think I like the song list and DLC opportunities of RB2 better, but my kids will probably like the BH list, and DON'T want to get 2 separate kits.(besides cost, there's really not room in the house) Thanks for any advice!
