Is 'The Rime of the Ancient Mariner' a poem about the burdened journey of an artist?

In the same way as the Mariner, Coleridge has said that he feels it is his calling to write literature. So, could the Mariner's curse of re-telling his story symbolise how Coleridge feels himself? If so, what quotations within the poem itself help to back this up?
