Is the party of Abraham Lincoln now the party of bigots and racists?

I am a LIFELONG republican and have noticed two segments of the Republican party forming: One side is the TRUE republicans, the party of Lincoln. The second, is the party of racists and bigots.

This is a PLEA to the level headed Republicans that ARE the Republican party. Vote for Obama! The Civil War in the 1860's didn't start as a war to free blacks from slavery, just as this election didn't start to elect a black man.

However, this Presidential race isn't about economic policy anymore, it's about human equality and dignity. It's our time Republicans! It's our time to vote for for the good of our country, just as we have always done!

Obama is courage personified. Lifelong Republican saying, "OBAMA '08"

Nice try LIFELONG DEMOCRAT, you are right about one thing though, Obama and Michelle are racist and will set civil rights back a hundred years at the rate they are going, to bad, Martin Luther King would roll over in his grave.

Democrats are now, and always have been the party of bigots and racists. I'm not saying that all Democrats are, I'm just saying that's the party they hang out in.

You are correct in that there are two kinds of Republicans though.

Neocons, very religious and don't care much about fiscal responsibility - Bush, Cheney, etc... Not racist though.

Traditional Republicans - believe in a three (balanced) legged platform: Family Values, Strong National Defense and Fiscal Responsibility. This is the party of Senator John McCain. Not at all racist.

It's the Fiscal Responsibility part of the Traditional Republicans that caused McCain to vote against Bush & Cheney's big-tax-credit-to-oil-companies bill while Obama voted for it. It's the same reason McCain cosponsored a bill a couple years ago to regulate Fannie and Freddy while Obama's gang fought against it. (Obama was a huge recipient of Fannie and Freddy money) I will provide supporting documentation upon request.

I urge you, if you are what you say you are, to rethink your position and support Senator John McCain for President in 2008.

The Democrats and Republicans pretty much swapped places in the 1930s with Roosevelt's 'New Deal'. This continued later in the 1960s when Democrats such as Robert Kennedy were involved in the civil rights movement.

Now Republicans have established themselves firmly on the right, and Democrats are somewhat in limbo, sometimes coming across as liberal and sometimes as conservative.

But hey, I'm a socialist so I don't support either of them.

is this a question or a politically motivated rant designed to promote party politics?

Are you hate mongering?

No, it's not.
I respectfully disagree with your opinion.
This, however, does not make me a racist or a bigot.
