Is the Panasonic DMC-FZ8S a good camera (for camera aficionados)?

I can get this for around £100, which is the amount I'm planning on spending. I'm a camera novice so it just looks like a lot of letters to me.

I don't need anything overly flashy, I just want it to take good pictures. Will this do the job, or is there a better one in the £100 price range?
