Granted many of the nominees are truly talented, but there are many much more talented actors who are never nominated. And the ones who win usually do so for some ulterior motive. I mean, seriously, Marissa Tomei and Whoopi Goldberg won Oscars, but amazing talents like Kirk Douglas, Robert Mitchum, Charles Chaplin and Cary Grant never did (at least not competitive Oscars).
