Is the N95 Battery Life really that bad?

I've been dying to order this phone, but every review I read says that the battery life is pretty much a dealbreaker for this phone. Is it that bad?

Wirelessly posted (Opera/8.01 (J2ME/MIDP; Opera Mini/3.1.7196/1662; en; U; ssr))

It depends on how you intend to use it; showpiece, you shouldn't worry. If you browse and BT daily as i do, you're looking at a few hours!

Mine seems like it get better as it matures. Since the firmware upgrade, and after a few charging cycles, I find that the battery last longer than when I first got it (it was running the older firmware).

I have to agree with candyman, and it all depends on what you gonna do with it,The problem with the n95 is there is so much to it so u tend to mess with it alot, just get a car charger and a spare charger and u good to go, and to me it charges very fast.

I just posted my thoughts: http://symbianguru.typepad.com/welcome/2007/05/n95_reflections.html

After a few weeks, I don't think the battery is the dealbreaker. It's nothing compared to the N73, that's for sure, but when you realize all that you can do with it, I'd say it's right on part.

Think like a car. If you're shopping for miles per gallon, you might compare a Prius with a GMC Sierra. The prius is going to get ALOT better mileage, but you also can't do the same work you can with the truck. You can't tow anything, or load it up with a bunch of cargo, or go off-road. Same with the N95. Sure it gets less mileage on the battery, but when you consider all that you can do with it, it's a sacrifice.

I don't think the battery is unusable at all.

During the week, I am a business person, so I place calls and that's about all. The N95 battery life is similar to my old SE w810i. I have no complaints as a phone. Just make sure you turn off dual-band.

When I travel, I tend to surf and use GPS. The battery life is drained much faster, as expected. Even my E62 can die with long browsing sessions at the airport.

On the weekends, I use the camera and GPS. This is when the battery really drains fast.

Overall, the battery life is NOT a deal breaker. Once you settle into the phone it will give you a solid day plus of life. The firmware update just became available for my product code, so I will see how much improved the battery life is.

I will have to agree I have had my n95 for a week now and I am use to having to charge my battery every night as I use the crap out of the phones I have. I have gone from 8am to about 6pm with somewhat heavy usage and still have 4 bars by then, so all in all I have to say Rcadden is right on the money with his statement, I love the phone does so much well worth it!!!!

I have 2 chargers, 1 for home 1 for work, and a car charger, and an extra battery, I rarely have to charge at work, charge in the car when using gps, and have yet to need the extra battery, but as everyone stated it depends on your usage, I am a moderate user and I'm usually able to get by on a nightly charge

mine last me the day with normal use....BT-WiFi- and endless tinkering around in the menu's and apps......for what this phone can do and size of screen ...i think the battery life is decent and not at all a deal breaker

I think the batt is isn't bad, it's not the greatest but for what the phone can do it is pretty amazing that you can get through a full day. Especially with the screen it has. The thing that I like most about the battery is that you can charge it from 0-100 within 1 hour and 30 minutes.

I'm currently charging my N95 about twice a day. Today it lasted about 3.5 hours off the charger before it ran flat. I was using it constantly for browsing the net/checking emails in that time.

I started today with a full charge, uninstalled ShoZu, used ~1.5hrs of GPS, downloaded 2 podcasts, listened to one, made a few calls, ~10-15 sms, and had Truphone active for ~45 min, with some web browsing, and I still have 3 bars. Not bad, imo.

Battery life is a pet peeve of mine (which I blogged about) and I couldn't stand a device that would need daily charges. I think too often the answer of "just don't use the features" is given and that's not really the point of buying a high end device.
