Is the Motorola Droid capable of using the Pdanet if you have a 64 bit operating system?

It continues to give me the error "installer failed to open device" I can load the icon in safe mode, but it won't let me open it. I have never had any trouble with downloading the Pdanet for a 32 bit operating system.
