educating people in real Islam? Is the media primarily interested in sound bytes and "wow factor"? All the Muslims I've met in real life have been awesomely kind and spirtual.

I agree with you. My impression has been mostly good from those I've met in real life.

But the fear works for them and it sells great to the bigots who watch the same media everyday for more garbage and believe that its completely true and balanced.
