I recently left my Gym after about 24 months. On leaving they said I owed them an extra months subscription of £30 despite the fact that you pay the months subscription up front. I have had a lot of correspondence with them in which I have most recently asked them for the contract I originally signed stating this clause. They said that they couldn't send me the contract as they had taken over from the previous owners and didn't have access to it. They did say that as a goodwill gesture they would drop it from £30 to £15. I don't think I should have to pay this charge as I was never informed of this when joining and they can't even provide the signed contract containing it. Does anyone know if I have to pay this charge? Or if they can take me to County Court over it.
Is the leaving charge from my Gym legal?
