Is the law-making power being usurped in America?

The original purpose of the law, one could argue, is merely to maintain order and promulgate justice among men. Such is the mandate given by The People to its government and its servants in the legislature.

However when you look at the thousands of new laws and the slew of Regulations spawn by Congress and all the Agencies, it would seem that the main purpose of the law is now to keep all citizens in default of some arbitrary rule or another, so as to extort money from them at gun point. As evidenced by traffic laws and speed traps, it is as if the new purpose of the law in America is to finance federal, state, and local governments.

American Jurisprudence, that blind-folded lady holding the scale, is now a whore, at the service of the pimps who make up our government. Not only does the Law of the Land rob and plunder its citizens, but it subjugates them , with increasing restraint of civil liberties, to the point of living under a virtual Police State.

Such practices may well lead to anarchy and home grown terrorism. (its a good thing right wing extremist rednecks don't travel much by air. The ones I know would not take off their shoes, and be pushed around like criminals)

I think much of it is caused by us, the grass roots. People trample on the rights of others, so laws have to be made which also encumber normal citizens. The increase of laws and controls on people is brought about because people in general are in a downward moral spiral. Corrupt people require more regulation. We can look in the mirror to see the source of the problem.
