Is the Iphone a good phone for someone who texts a lot and loves listening to music?

I am switching from Verizon to At&t to get the Iphone. I am looking to buy the Iphone 3Gs 32gb. I was wondering if At&t has as bad service as everyone says they do or if the Iphone is actually good
