my cousins got one id call it a girls car rather than an old peoples car, rather like the ford ka... now a red nissan micra thats an old persons car

I'm considering buying a Honda Jazz for my first car when i pass my test, as i love the look of it, the fact that its cheap to run and insure, and that it's reliable and safe. Only thing is, i'm 20 and i only ever seem to see older people (as in 50 or over!) driving the car and that kinda puts me off. Especially as my mum in law has one and shes 60!!

I wouldn't get one of those green/pink ones though, i'd get a blck one as they look really nice... What do you think? x

Hi! I sell Honda for a living.

Honestly, most of the people who buy Jazz are aged between 50 and 65+...... however......

Your reasoning for looking at this car is spot on. You know the running costs are brilliant, they just go on and on forever and don't ever want to give up, they're so sought after used that they hold their money brilliantly so if you fancy swapping it you'll get very good money back for it later!

They look great in black too!

You can get a nice 1.4 SE in black which is insurance group 3. A family friend of mine has bought her first car off me, she's 17 and picked up her Jazz a few weeks ago. She LOVES it! Her and her friends don't get out of it.

If you get a good quote on the Jazz 1.4 SE then why not get one on the 1.4 Sport too, it's only one insurance group higher at group 4, it has nicer wheels, sports body kit and fog lights.

Good luck!!

I always thought that to. So when my mum announced she had bought one i thought "oh noo".
But i am used to it now and i love it! Ours is silver but i think black would look really good.
I am 17 and when i pass my test i would love to drive her car.
I think its a good car as its not too big and it is uncomplicated!
And, since we bought ours, i noticed quite a few people driving round in them to, so its not just for old people!
go for it, hope this helped :) xx

well here in america the car is sold as the honda fit, and it's bought exclusively by teenagers and people in their low twenty's. i think it's a great car for a young person. supposedly, it handles nicely, and is very economical.

personally, if i were living in the uk and looking for a small city-car, i would buy the fiat panda. i think it's as spacious as the jazz, it handles just as well, and it's almost £3,000 cheaper. and if hondas really are considered old-person's cars, then i guess this would be less embarrassing.

so, it's up to you. my dad had a 1993 honda accord that had 225,000 miles on it when we sold it back in 2006. we managed to sell it for $1,500 at the time, which is actually a lot for such an old car. i wouldn't be surprised if the car is still running smoothly today. then again, my uncle had one that needed a new transmission at 70,000 miles. every company has lemons.

i have heard that fiat's reliability rating is vastly improving over the recent years, but i don't think they're nearly as good as honda's.

so, it's up to you. do you want to save £3,000 and get a car you feel is more youthful, or spend the extra money and get a car that will be as reliable as clockwork, but is seen as an old person's car.

i think personally i would get the fiat just because i want an italian car.

hope i helped!

good luck!

It is a great/flexible car.

Honda does not chase the "young" market as they are expensive - but of course hold their value very well and are always at the top of the reliability charts!

So older "sensible" people buy them as they are a much better long term investment!

Don't follow the shallow celebrity obsessed consumer world we live in, it is all designed to make you spend/waste money following the herd. Be independant and proud of it!

By the way you will attract a better class of man (note I don't say guy - very shallow!) if you are also more "up market"!
