I am looking at a 2010 escape with the 2.5l I4 engine. I am curious to know what I am looking at in terms of quality of engine, mpg, etc. Is this a decent engine or is it garbage. We will be doing mostly city driving and I do not need pep as this is a family car so I do not need to take it off the line. I am more concerned that it is a good quality engine. I know ford in the past has had trouble with the 3.8 blowing head gaskets and the triton v8 blowing spark plugs. etc... so I am just looking at that aspect. Anything I should know? good bad ugly.
While I am at it how about the 3.0l v6 in this vehicle? Is it the pretty much the same as the older 3.0l v6? If so, I know that is a good engine. decent mileage and good pep, no blown gaskets etc....
