Is the Ducati Monster 696 okay to start on? Or should I stick with the Honda 125?

Hello there!

I will be buying my first motorcycle soon, and I have narrowed my choice down to the Ducati Monster 696. It's not insanely fast and it's acceleration isn't arm-breaking, so would it be okay to start on?

If not, I'm perfectly happy to buy the Honda CBR125 to learn on.

Either way, thanks in advance! :)
 
If you start on a the 696 you have a very good chance of being a road smear. Start small and ride longer.
You may want to consider the Honda CBR250 or the Kawasaki Ninja 250. Both are good starter bikes and have more umph then the 125.
