I have a mitsubishi galant 04. The car is nearly four years old and has 24,157 miles on it. On memorial weekend I was on my way to Atlantic city when my timing belt just broke off. I heard a weird squeaking sound before the event happened. I had my car towed to a Strauss in new jersey.I had it replaced. Recently I have noticed my car was making a squeaking sound again and I looked under the car to see that it was leaking oil. So I have gone to the mitsubishi dealership where I bought the car to fix it. I told them the problem that I have an oil leek. It was all over the belt and other areas around the timing belt. Later on I get a phone call with a service rep asking me if someone has done work to the car. I explained the story to them and he told me it was not going to be covered do to the people who replaced my belt not cleaning the area well. They say shards of the old belt messed with the gasket and crankshaft seals.
