Is the Canon sx210 IS a good quality camera which takes good quality photos?

I'm looking to buy a new camera and I was looking for some advice. Help?

Okay, so, I’m going to Europe in January and I want a new camera.

I want a digital still camera that takes photos like an slr camera that is cheap.

Realistic? Probably not.

I was recommended by this guy at work to get the Canon sx210 IS. I can get it for $280, down from it’s usual $500. And $280ish is about all I’m looking to spend.

Does anyone know anything about this camera? I’ve read reviews and noone’s said anything bad, they’re all 8 or 9/10 reviews.

OR can you suggest a really good, cheap camera that I can get?

HELP MEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

I would also really like a viewfinder (which the canon doesn’t have), and it would be lovely for it to be shock proof, water proof and snow/freeze proof.

SUGGESTIONS?

I need to know if I want the Canon by tomorrow at the latest, before the special’s over. :(
