In the book of Genesis it say's that all of the planets orbited the earth. But a Polish priest called Nicholas Copernicus believed that all of the planets orbited the sun. Later on an Italian scientist named Galileo Galilei discovered through the telescope that all of the planets did orbit the sun & that the Polish priest Nicholas Copernicus was actually correct. Galileo was ridiculed by the Church & believers & was forced to take back everything that had contradicted the book of Genesis. He was then put on house arrest for the rest of his life. If he didn't take back everything that was said he would have been executed.
