Is the Blackberry Pearl 8120 Indigo a good phone? What can you do with it?

Now I know that it's a smart phone. But that's about it.I have an iphone so when it comes to a Blackberry I haven't a clue.

Can you put apps/games on it like the iphone?? And if so are they any good?
Does it have a decent mp3 player?

Btw..its a xmas present for my iphone-phobic partner. (he hates them) so hopefully this is a good alternative??
