Is the Benelli NOVA entry 14.5" 12 ga. legal for home defense ?

Went on the Benelli site and they're selling a 12 ga. synthetic called The NOVA entry14.5" . It's advertised as a short barrel shotgun for home defense with a Ghost ring sight. Is this something out of the ordinary and legal ?
