Betting a $20,000 sign on bonus and college scholarships that you won't get sent abroad to die or get horribly maimed.

You know, back in the day, people protested the rich buying their way out of the draft. Have they found a better way? Pay up to the soldier rather than the army itself via income taxation. The less wealthy classes will be too tempted to resist volunteering.

Now the rich man's son is just a non-volunteer. Not shameful at all. You could have a hundred reasons for that. So what if it costs a few extra thou to pay the increased income taxes incurred by being rich? Increased income has increased benefits. Everybody is not equal. It's only fair to pay increased taxes.
